Cuomo is pushing NY to pass the Amy Cooper bill

Karen, you are officially on notice.

Amy Cooper is the “Karen” in central park that called police on a black man for simply not having his dog on his leash. While that is a crime in many cities, it does not warrant a 911 call nor does it warrant her false claims:

“There’s an African American man, I’m in Central Park, he is recording me and threatening myself and my dog. … Please send the cops immediately!”

Guess what?  Legislation, which was introduced in 2018, now nicknamed the Amy Cooper bill is gaining traction in New York with Governor Andrew Cuomo backing it.  The proposed law will make it a hate crime when callers make a false accusation based on race, gender, or religion.

Chances are, if this passes in New York, we will see similar legislation in all states. Stronger legislation like this will give us the push we need to finally end racism. Of course, a law is only as good as the enforcement that takes place after it is passed.
